A classic Filipino noodle dish made with rice noodles stir-fried with meat, seafood, and vegetables, seasoned with soy sauce and calamansi. Commonly served at birthdays and gatherings as a symbol of long life.
Ingredients
- Rice noodles (bihon)
- Chicken, pork, or shrimp
- Garlic, minced
- Onion, chopped
- Carrots, sliced
- Cabbage, shredded
- Green beans or pechay
- Soy sauce
- Fish sauce (optional)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cooking oil
- Chicken broth or water
- Calamansi (optional, for serving)
Procedure
- Soak rice noodles in water until softened, then drain.
- Heat oil in a wok or pan and sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
- Add meat or shrimp and cook until lightly browned.
- Pour in soy sauce, fish sauce if using, and broth or water, then bring to a simmer.
- Add noodles and toss until softened and coated with sauce.
- Mix in carrots, cabbage, and green beans, cooking until vegetables are tender but crisp.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot with calamansi on the side.
