Sunny Side Up Egg is a fried egg cooked on one side only, with the yolk left runny and the whites set. It’s a staple in Filipino silog meals (like tapsilog, longsilog, or tosilog), and also a quick breakfast favorite worldwide.
Ingredients:
- 1–2 fresh eggs
- 1 tbsp cooking oil or butter
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of ground black pepper (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Heat Pan
- Place a non‑stick pan over medium heat.
- Add oil or butter and let it heat up.
Step 2: Cook Egg
- Crack egg gently into the pan.
- Let it cook undisturbed until whites are set but yolk remains runny (about 2–3 minutes).
Step 3: Season
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Serve
- Slide egg carefully onto a plate.
- Pair with garlic fried rice (sinangag) and tapa, longganisa, or tocino for a full silog meal.
